About Greg Hatfield

Greg Hatfield is an independent playwright, director, and theatre historian based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Known for his sophisticated comedies and sharp sense of timing, he’s often called the “Master of the Well-Timed Pause.”

His plays include The Cabot Comedies (Next Stage Press), Curtain Call, The Cold Foul Air, Lily Blossoms, or Modern Subdivision Zoning in the Present Day, Mundy Tuesday Friday, and many more. His work has been presented by Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative, PlayZoomers, The Drama Workshop, and theatre companies across the U.S. and the U.K.

Greg is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild and the New Play Exchange, where his plays continue to reach new audiences. His most recent honors include publication in the upcoming PlayZoomers Anthology (Fall 2025) and recognition for Burnt Toast of Broadway as Best Short Play (2025 New York City New Play Festival).

When he’s not writing or directing, Greg is an avid collector of Broadway memorabilia and classic theatre history, drawing inspiration from legends like Noël Coward, George S. Kaufman, and the Barrymores.
